The Loss and Grief Centre are seeking a dynamic Team Leader to join the team supporting individuals and families within the Southland region. This position works closely with the Centre Director, contractors and volunteers of the centre.

The role involves supporting and advising the Centre Director, leading the contractors and volunteers, networking with local organisations and stakeholders, and deliver quality services one on one and in groups to the Southland-based clients.

Ideal person specifications –

Skills and Experience:

• Leadership and the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within the loss and grief support service area and the wider organisation

• Knowledge and experience in providing loss and /or grief support/mentoring to bereaved individuals

• Knowledge and experience in managing and supervising other team members and a volunteer workforce

• Ability to facilitate peer support groups with a focus on loss and grief

 Education and Training

• Qualifications relevant to this area of work, preferably in counselling, or social work

• Registration and/or membership with professional association is preferred

• Computer literacy with knowledge of internet, email, excel, word and social media

• A current driver’s license without endorsements is essential

• A strong sense of personal integrity and an understanding of the personal and professional challenges of working in the loss and grief field

• Able to maintain a strong focus on continuous quality improvement both personally and professionally

• Ability to establish rapport with people in all social situations, and sensitivity to cultural differences

• Ability to practice a high level of interpersonal skills and open communication
